FC CLACTON goal king Aaron Condon says his side should aim much higher than just survival next season – and believes they can even crack the top ten.

The Seasiders begin their Thurlow Nunn League premier division campaign at Swaffham Town on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

It is the first of two quick-fire away games, with a short trip to Brantham Athletic looming next Tuesday.

And far from being content just to avoid relegation this season, the club skipper is adamant his side should set their sights much higher.

“I’m very optimistic,” said the 25-year-old, who blazed a trail at the top of the club’s goal charts last season.

“We’re playing like a completely different team (compared to last season) and we’ve got four or five very exciting youngsters.

“We can finish in the top ten, without doubt, and that has to be our aim.

“There’s no way in the world we’ll be fighting relegation again and I’m more than happy to say that publicly, because that’s how confident I feel.

“The club’s more stable than it was this time last year.

“We’ve got more experienced players and an excellent manager (David Coyle), who we can learn a lot from.”
