LITTLE Clacton defeated Kirby D in a top-of-the-table Colchester and District League clash.
The sides are the top two teams in mixed division five.
However, it was Little Clacton who emerged victorious by eight sets to one.
Results: Tony Fulcher and June Ratford beat Natalie Cowie and Andrew Cartwright 8-1, John Watcham and Emma Gentry 8-2 and Barbara Slack and Aaron Wilden 8-3; John Russel and Sarah Fulcher won 8-2, lost 4-8 and won 8-4 and Jonathan and Kay Mansfield won 8-2, 8-0 and 8-2.
Meanwhile, Little Clacton’s men’s team lost 7-2 at Spring Lane, Colchester.
Their top two men’s players were not available and the number one pairing had to retire through injury, in their first set.
The team have now dropped to third place and will need a grandstand finish to win promotion.
