CLACTON Cricket Club skipper Scott Facey believes his side can deliver more title glory.

The club are second in Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division three with three wins and a tie from their opening four matches.

The tie came in last week’s thrilling contest at Ipswich and East Suffolk.

Afterwards Facey – whose side won promotion last year – sung the praises of his players’ efforts so far.

“The boys have been brilliant,” he said.

“We’ve got a stronger squad and I feel confident we can win the league.

“We’ve carried on from where we left off last year and are improving all the time.

“We trained hard over the winter months and that’s helped massively.

“We’ve also got a local side and a lot of young players coming through, which makes it a lot more satisfying and rewarding.”

Facey himself (37), Iain Vine (59 not out), Matt Fowler and Imran Sheikh (three wickets apiece) were the main stars of last week’s match at Ipswich.

“Different people are contributing every week, rather than relying heavily on one or two,” added the skipper.

“Different players are pulling something out of the bag every week.”
