FRINTON’s young footballers have been showing some Respect.

Frinton and Walton Youth FC are backing the Essex County FA’s Respect Week, which runs until Saturday.

As part of the initiative, the club designated a friendly fixture between their girls’ team and Layer Colts as their featured Respect Match.

One of the club’s young players, Alfie Davidson, was also asked to referee the match.

The Frinton team played out an entertaining, good-spirited and well-deserved draw against their more experienced opponents.

Club chairman Mick Collins said: “The game was a credit to both sets of players and coaches, and the spirit among the parents on the sidelines was fantastic. The club is proud to back the FA’s Respect campaign and this game showed how youth football should be played.

“It was a real pleasure to watch.”

“Respect” is the collective responsibility of everyone involved in football to create a fair, safe and enjoyable environment in which the game can take place.

The programme was launched by the FA prior to the start of the 2010/11 season and promoting the FA’s Respect campaign is one of the club's top priorities.

They already have Respect posters displayed in their clubhouse at Frinton Park and Respect videos and messages on their website at fwyfc.co.uk
