CLACTON Cricket Club are setting their sights on back-to-back promotions.

And manager Gary Kirk believes the Seasiders are reaping the rewards for going back to their roots, since dropping out of the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League.

They won the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division four title in style last season and begin their division three campaign at home to East Bergholt on Saturday.

“It’s going to be great to start playing cricket again,” said stalwart Kirk.

“Long-term, I feel we’ve got enough good local players – and enough young talent – to aim for another promotion. We’d love to go up again this year and then try and re-start our second team next season.

“That will help us move forward.

“We’ve got a lot of youngsters coming through.

“Our plan is to start integrating some of them and we’re taking it very seriously.

“They’re all local guys and everyone’s looking forward to the season."
