FC CLACTON dropped into the Thurlow Nunn League premier division bottom three after an incredible 4-3 defeat against Ely City at the Rush Green Bowl.

The Seasiders led 2-0, thanks to excellent goals in quick succession from Aaron Condon and Tom Holdstock.

Ely then pulled one back just before the break and nosed in front with two more – including an own goal - before the hour-mark.

Condon won and converted a late penalty to rescue what looked a share of the spoils.

But Ely goalkeeper Lee Pacey pumped forward a free-kick two minutes into stoppage time and was amazed to see it float straight into the Clacton net.

“It was so disappointing and, once again, we gifted our opponents four goals,” fumed Seasiders boss Glenn Eldridge.

At the top, BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT dug deep to see off Diss, 3-1.

They stay third as second-placed Felixstowe & Walton won at Mildenhall.

But an added bonus was that leaders Hadleigh United suffered a surprise 4-2 defeat at home to Godmanchester Rovers.

Diss led at the break but Regent stormed back thanks to two goals from Terry Rymer – a volley from outside the area and a great solo effort – and Kevin Coyle’s 25-yarder.
