Border League side are heading to the Bowl
7:00am Tuesday 16th October 2012 in Sport By Matt Plummer
FC CLACTON are preparing for a friendly against the Kent Blaxill Essex and Suffolk Border League Representative side.
The match will take place at the Rush Green Bowl tonight, kicking-off at 7.45pm.
Seasiders boss Ray Turner was keen to arrange the fixture in order to help his players build their sharpness.
He plans to field a full-strength squad and said: “I want to keep the wheels moving.
“I’ve organised it for match sharpness and it should be a really good test, before we go to Felixstowe for an important league match on Saturday.”
Clacton are second from bottom in the Thurlow Nunn League premier division but nearly took a point off leaders Wisbech at the weekend - only to concede a 93rd-minute goal and lose 2-1.
“The way my team are playing at the moment doesn’t reflect our league position,” added Turner.
“We deserve more points and our game at the weekend epitomised that.
“Wisbech are top of the table, but we more than matched them.”
The Border League squad should include the likes of Anthony O’Riordan (Alresford Colne Rangers), Stephen Polley (Dedham Old Boys), Lewis Wood (Little Oakley), Joe Martin (Holland FC), Shawn Newton (Lawford Lads), Eldon Craig (Gas Recreation), Jack Murray (Gas Recreation), Jimmy Chatters (Harwich and Parkeston), Josh Dillon (Gas Recreation), Rob Thorne (Gas Recreation), Steve Spires (West Bergholt) and Steve Downes (Holland FC).
