Lane's England call-up is a first for Tendring

FRINTON’S Jessica Lane chalked up a unique first after being chosen to play volleyball for England.

She represented the under-17 junior women’s side at the Northern European Volleyball Zonal Association Championships in Kuortane, Finland.

In making her international debut, she became the first female from Tendring Technology College and Tendring Volleyball Club to represent England.

The 15-year-old helped her country finish fourth overall, behind Denmark, Finland and Sweden.

“I was really pleased to be chosen and very proud to earn my first England cap,” said Lane.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to play against girls from other countries and the coaches were pleased with my performance.

“Hopefully I’ll get more opportunities to represent my country in the future.”
