Beecham claims the honours in annual triathlon

HARDY competitors tackled humid conditions during the 14th Clacton Triathlon.

The event, which raises money for the Brain and Spine Foundation, started and finished at Holland Haven Country Park.

The main race was Sunday’s standard distance triathlon, which featured 230 entrants.

It started with a 1,500 metres sea swim and was followed by a 40km bike ride around Great Holland, Kirby Cross, Thorpe-le-Soken and Holland-on-Sea and then a 10km run towards Clacton Pier and back to Holland.

The winner was Jamie Beecham, from Greenwich Tri Club, who clocked one hour 58 minutes and three seconds.
