Seasiders are thumped by league leaders
10:09pm Saturday 1st September 2012 in Sport By Matt Plummer
FC CLACTON’S dismal start to the Thurlow Nunn League season continued as they crashed to a 4-0 defeat at home to premier division leaders Dereham.
All four goals came in the first half and two were own goals.
It means Andy Taylor’s side are still hunting their first victory of the campaign, having drawn two and lost four of their opening six league fixtures, in addition to an FA Cup setback at the hands of division one outfit Halstead Town.
In division one, Brightlingsea Regent's disappointing start continued as they lost 1-0 at second-placed Saffron Walden Town.
Boss James Webster recently admitted that his side are failing to “click” – a statement testified by their four defeats from six games.
Regent have completed the loan signing of Stanway Rovers’ Danny Clements.
