St Osyth enjoy being a part of Twenty20 Finals Day
4:33pm Thursday 30th August 2012 in Sport By Matt Plummer
ST OSYTH Cricket Club hope to go from strength to strength in the new PiriPiri North Essex League Twenty20 competition.
The Cowley Park side battled through to this year’s Finals Day, held on Bank Holiday Monday.
They had finished second in a tough qualifying group and then won a quarter-final against Witham, to book their place at Castle Park, Colchester.
But their hopes of winning the trophy went up in smoke after losing in their semi-final.
Nevertheless, committee member Nick Shuttleworth said his club were delighted to be part of this year’s inaugural Twenty20 Finals Day.
“In the end we were well beaten by a top side, in Colchester,” he said.
“The lads gave their all and no-one could fault their effort."
