Taylor is hoping to hit the ground running
5:08pm Thursday 2nd August 2012 in Sport By Matt Plummer
FC CLACTON manager Andy Taylor has challenged his side to kick-start their season with a positive result.
The Seasiders launch their Thurlow Nunn League premier division campaign with a tricky home fixture against CRC on Saturday. After that they face two derbies, against Wivenhoe Town on Tuesday and then at home to Halstead Town in the FA Cup.
And Taylor is determined that his side build up an early head of steam, ideally by getting off to a winning start at the weekend.
“It’s a very difficult first match for us,” said the Seasiders boss.
“CRC are a young team and they train every day, so they’ll be lively.
“But we’ll work on a few things in training tonight and certainly be ready for them, by Saturday.
“We kick-off at home and need a positive result – be it a win or draw – to get things under way.
“It would be great to kick-start our season with three points and we want to be brimming with confidence going into the local derby against Wivenhoe.”
Clacton played their final pre-season friendly on Tuesday night, losing 2-1 at home to Essex Senior League side Great Wakering Rovers.
