Taylor close to finalising his Seasiders squad
6:30pm Thursday 12th July 2012 in Sport By Matt Plummer
FC Clacton boss Andy Taylor is getting closer to finalising his squad for next season.
Although there have been no new signings in the last week, he has “irons in the fire” and expects to confirm more arrivals soon.
He has set a deadline of July 24, when his side play a friendly at Cornard United, in order to have finalised his 16 or 17-man squad for the new Thurlow Nunn League season, which begins with a home match against CRC on August 4.
“There are things in the pipeline,” said Taylor.
“A couple of deals should be completed in the next week to ten days and I hope to have everything sorted by the time we go to Cornard.
“That’s the deadline I’ve set in my mind, by when I’ll know the squad I’ve got at my disposal for the start of the season.”
Clacton play their first friendly on Saturday, when they face Brightlingsea Regent.
The match will take place at Thurstable School, in Tiptree, and kick-off is at 3pm.
