Jaques through to world final

Clacton's Matt Jaques has won a spot in the world’s most prestigious pool tournament.

He has secured an all-expenses paid trip to Blackpool for the final stages of the World Eight Ball Pool Championships.

Jaques (pictured), who plays for the Brace of Pistols and competes in the Clacton Singles League, won the regional qualifying event for the competition, at Mr Pools, in Elmstead Market, on Sunday.

In the final he beat fellow Clacton player Jeff Johnson, 6-4.

Many of the best players from Essex and Suffolk were competing for their chance to earn a spot at the main event, which will be staged later in June.
