Vikings are the new proud holders of the Clacton and District Sunday League’s Premier Division League Cup, following a comfortable 4-0 victory over a very gallant Coastal Rangers B side.

They scored all their goals in the first half, with the first coming from the penalty spot, thanks to Tom Lang.

Lang headed in a second from a corner and, despite a desperate goal-line clearance, eagle-eyed linesman Stuart Hannam signalled to referee Brian Mason that the ball had crossed the line.

Coastal had only managed one shot at goal up to this point and Vikings put the game out of their reach with further goals from Ross Thorogood and Joe Martin.

Man-of-the-match was Coastal goalkeeper Paul Churchlow. Despite conceding four goals, he pulled off several top-class saves.

The trophy, and mementoes, were presented by the league’s referees’ appointment secretary, Scott Ridley.
