LINKS Karate Kai were crowned overall champions after the sixth and final round of the 2010 BKTL Series, in New Malden, Surrey.

It was staged two months later than scheduled due to the snow in December.

After holding their own in kata, the fighters showed their mettle with 16 wins and three draws.

Maisie Raymond was their only defeated competitor, although she was up against much older opposition.

After drawing the first BKTL meeting a year ago, Links have won the remaining five to run out overwhelming and deserved champions.

The team has matured throughout the year, gaining good experience of the format, and can take that forward to the 2011 season, which begins in March in Tolworth.

An extremely heavy trophy and shield were handed to captain Mitchell Priestley.

Mementos were given to Fred Harris and Sarah Day, for their work throughout the year on the table.

Also honoured were Sam Beck, Loren Cook, Emily Griffiths and Steve Naylor for their excellent refereeing.
