THE third round of the Topdogs winter competition was played at Clacton Golf Club.
One hundred and eight players turned out on a wonderful morning for golf.
The first-place pairing of Richard Bridger and Darren Banks returned a stableford score of 47 points.
Second were Simon Barns and Malcolm Taylor, with 45 points, and third were Rick Hale and Bert Foster, with 44.
Clacton have now played three rounds out of 12, in the Topdogs competition.
In the lead are Barns and Taylor with 39 points, closely followed by Andy Moore and Stuart Hill with 38 and third are Bridger and Banks with 36.
The final of the Junior Summer Knockout was completed on Saturday.
The finalists were Liam Clark and Jonathan Hewett.
In a very close encounter with both players showing skills beyond their ages, Clark just had the edge to win a very exciting match.
The Junior Top Dogs first round was played on Saturday morning.
This is a new competition and was a great success, with 12 juniors playing.
First was Ben Rendell with 43 points, second was Craig James with 42 and third was Chay Robinson with 41.
Meanwhile, it was a glittering evening when captain Bob Foster welcomed guests and members to Clacton’s annual dinner-dance.
