Seasiders bowling duo win area final

Pride of place goes to Clacton Bowling Club's Clive Seager and Brian Jones, who won the area final of the county pairs with a 20-14 win over last year’s county finalists Nigel Holt and Bruce Gunn, of Mersea Island.

They now play a pair from Shell Bowls Club at Falcon in Chelmsford.

Seager and Jones, along with Dennis Frizzell, also played in the area final of the county triples against the same opposition, this time losing out.

Jenny Lawson and Anne Devenish played in the ladies’ county pairs quarter-final but lost to a pair from Colchester West End.

In the Premier League, Clacton lost 8-0 at Thorpe and Clacton A lost 8-0 at home to Frinton.

The two Clacton teams also played each other with Clacton beating Clacton A 6-2.

In the Windsor League, Clacton A lost 7-3 at home to Parkeston and Clacton B drew 5-5 away at Happy Valley B.

In the latest friendlies, Clacton tied with Dartford Invicta and lost to Cambridge Post Office.
