TENNIS is a much loved sport, but with its fast-paced nature and need for speed, it is not as inclusive to all as it could be.

This is where the sport of walking tennis comes in.

LTA Walking Tennis will be hosting free sessions ideal for those who are just starting out and want to improve their confidence, who are returning from an injury or those who just need a bit more time getting to the ball.

These walking tennis sessions at Frinton Lawn Tennis Club every Friday at 11.30am. 

A spokesman for the club said: "Walking tennis offers a plethora of benefits for individuals seeking an enjoyable and active way to improve their physical fitness and overall well-being.

"This low-impact sport promotes cardiovascular health, allowing participants to engage in a moderate-intensity aerobic exercise without placing excessive strain on joints and muscles.

"Walking tennis is also accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels and sessions fully inclusive and as such are open to people with disabilities."

The club provides all the equipment needed along with sessions with a perfect blend of excercise, fun and socialising.

He added: "Additionally, it enhances coordination, balance, and agility, while the social aspect of the game can contribute to improved mental health and reduced stress levels.

"Whether you're a seasoned athlete or a novice looking for a fun way to stay active, walking tennis provides an excellent way to connect with others, and bolster both physical and mental health."

LTA Walking Tennis was formed after a Sport England survey revealed that three out of ten residents in the Tendring district do less than half an hour of exercise a week. 

The organisation asked almost 500 residents in Tendring about their exercise habits as part of its annual Active Lives survey. 

Of these, 30 per cent said they did less than 30 minutes of exercise a week.
