FORMER FC Clacton favourite Lee Peacock has rejoined the Seasiders.

The centre-half was a pivotal figure in the club’s promotion success to the Thurlow Nunn League premier division in 2009/10.

He first joined in 2008/09, from Tendring neighbours Harwich and Parkeston, and is part of an elite group to have played more than 200 games for Clacton.

“Lee’s signed and has been training with the boys,” said manager Tom Austin.

“He still has some work to do in terms of his fitness and I suspect it’ll be a few weeks before he plays in a league match.

“But it’s brilliant to have him back at the club.

“Lee’s played 230-odd games for Clacton.

"He knows this level of football, has so much experience, reads the game well and helps others around him.

“It’s such a bonus having him around again and I’m looking forward to being able to play him in league games.”

Clacton were back in action on Tuesday night, when they lost 1-0 at Redbridge in the Essex Senior Cup.

The hosts narrowly progressed thanks to an early Calvin Poku strike.

Peacock was given an early run-out due to other players being unavailable.

The Seasiders now switch their attention to Saturday’s Thurlow Nunn League appointment at Walsham-le-Willows.

They had been due to face Haverhill Rovers.

However, that game has had to be rescheduled because the Suffolk side are in the FA Cup action.

Clacton’s premier division match at home to Woodbridge, recently postponed because of the Seasiders’ FA Cup replay, will now be played on Tuesday, September 18 (kick-off 7.45pm).

Meanwhile, back at the Bowl, Clacton’s reserves drew 2-2 with Boxted Lodgers Reserves in the Essex and Suffolk Border League.

Kieron Sparrow and Steve Bruff scored their goals in the second division contest. The reserves visit Hatfield Peverel Reserves on Saturday before a home match with Stanway Pegasus at the Bowl next Tuesday.

Clacton’s under-18s have a Thurlow Nunn Youth League south division appointment at Brightlingsea Regent tonight.
