FRINTON Golf Club's men vied for the Davis Cup.

This is a stableford competition for 16 to 28-handicappers and David Baker won the trophy with a score of 38 points.

Steve Phillips was the stableford winner with 42 points, while Mark Smith was just behind him in second place, with 41.

The Michael Gates Headway Golf Day drew a massive field and was a five-man Texas Scramble.

The team of Tig Tanner, Liam Wilson, Harry Sanderson, Jamie Redden and Peter Irwin were out in front with a nett score of 54.4.

Just behind them in second, with 54.9, were Hamish Stubbs, Karl Pritchard, Daniel Pritchard, Ray Pritchard and I Vine.

Third place went to Rob Long, Chris Hemingway, Mike Leonardi, Toby Oliver and Roger Deeble, with 56.1.

The best ladies' team was made up of Ginny Richardson, Caroline Gard, Angela Vaughan, Barbara Thorpe and Sheran Harding, with 63.8 nett.

Meanwhile, Frinon's ladies played for the Capel Court Rosebowl.

This is a medal with no handicap restrictions and Tricia Hamilton took home the silverware with a score of 72 nett.

Both Caroline Gard and Ginny Richardson finished on 74, with Gard awarded second place on countback.

In the Leslie Wood Plate competition, Frinton persevered, winning 5-3.

Bob Newton had a notable victory in his match, winning 9&8.
