THE new Clacton Knights walking football team finished unbeaten at their first-ever tournament, hosted by Chelmsford City.
They were up against nine other teams from across Essex, including a league representative side.
Clacton's six-a-side team was selected from Terry Hewitt, Andy Moore, Ray Reader, Dennis Beere, Eddie Smith, Cliff Brooks, John Folkard and Brian Porter and their first match resulted in a 0-0 draw against Chelmsford City Blues.
They had numerous chances to score but failed to hit the back of the net.
Next up were Southend A - one of the tournament favourites - and, in a very tight affair, Clacton's defence stood strong to record another 0-0 draw.
In their next game, Clacton played some fine football but were again unable to score in another 0-0 draw, this time against Chelmsford City Reds.
In their last match, the Knights' dominance was rewarded as they beat Southend B 1-0.
Goalscorer Reader calmly tapped home after a fine lay-off by Smith.
Clacton Knights meet every Tuesday at 7pm, at Clacton Coastal Academy in Jaywick Lane.
