COUNTBACK was needed to decide the outcome of Frinton Golf Club's annual Turkey Trot event.
There were two categories of prizes – men and mixed.
And in the men’s category, Ian Robinson and Frank Sanderson won on countback with 36 points ahead of runners-up Leo Knifton and Henry Staudinger.
In the mixed category, Andrew and Julia Walshaw won with an amazing 41 points and also had the highest score of the day.
Steve and Yvonne Davies finished second, with 36 points.
It was a relatively warm day and the rain held off until the last couple of holes.
All Havers Course members were eligible to play, with 38 pairs competing in the foursomes event.
The day was sponsored by Wrights the Butcher who supplied generous prizes in the form of vouchers for turkeys or other products.
Frinton GC's ladies played a foursome stableford on their day.
The chilly weather and north wind added to the difficulty but 13 pairs toughed it out.
Ginny Richardson and Audrey Joshua won with 31 points.
Joan Stevenson and Linda Boland were awarded second place on countback with 30 points, just ahead of Caroline Gard and Loraine Motion.
The Junior 2017 competition winners were awarded their trophies in an afternoon presentation and tea last Sunday.
The event was very well attended by all the winners and their families.
Jack Partridge was named the new Junior captain.
