LUKE Callander was the two-goal hero as HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS booked their place in the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy.

Jody Brown's in-form side beat Bostik League premier division side Tonbridge Angels 2-1, in a replay at the Aspen Waite Arena.

It was Callander who scored late on to secure a 3-3 draw in the first meeting between the sides on Saturday.

And the prolific front man continued his scoring ways with a brace tonight, netting in the 48th and 58th minutes.

Alexander Akrofi pulled one back for the visitors nine minutes from time but it proved only a consolation.

Heybridge, who are looking forward to an FA Cup first-round tie at League Two side Exeter City on Sunday, will now travel to Evo-Stik Southern League premier division side Dorchester in the next round of the Trophy.

The tie will take place on November 11.

Elsewhere, Swifts' Bostik League division north rivals MALDON AND TIPTREE and WITHAM TOWN were both in Essex Senior Cup action.

The Jammers took the lead in their home tie against Romford but ended up losing 3-1.

Ryan Clampin's 18th-minute penalty gave them an early advantage but the visitors hit back through Garret Kelly (42), James Ishmail (58) and Jonathon Nzengo (68).

Witham went down 4-0 at home to National League side Dagenham and Redbridge.

Pat Ahern's own goal on the stroke of half-time was sandwiched by strikes from Joe White (28) and Fejiri Okenabirhie (61).

Okenabirhie then netted again three minutes from time.

There were a couple of League Challenge Cup ties of note, with Thurlow Nunn League premier division side STANWAY ROVERS proving too strong for LITTLE OAKLEY.

Kem Izzet's in-form side, fresh from putting nine past neighbours Wivenhoe Town on Friday night, ran out 4-0 winners at The Hawthorns.

They scored twice in each half, with Moris Gelashvili and Kieran Ayling on target in the first period and Joe Heron and Ayling again killing off the Acorns.

There are some noteworthy ties on Wednesday night, with FC CLACTON playing host to COGGESHALL TOWN and managerless WIVENHOE TOWN and HOLLAND FC meeting at the GMP Plant Hire Stadium.
