LADY captain Marilyn Clarke hosted her Autumn Meeting at Frinton Golf Club.

It took place in bright sunshine with good, dry course conditions.

The morning format was singles stableford and there were two categories for first place.

Caroline Grey was the winner for the 12 to 29 handicap with 36 points.

Audrey Joshua was first in the 30 to 36 category, with 39, and Sheran Harding was second, with 37.

Angela Vaughan finished third on countback with 35 points.

Louise Wood received a special "new ladies" prize. She scored 32 points.

Over on the Kirby course, Jackie Fletcher won with an amazing 40 points. Sandra Balderstone took second with 36.

The afternoon format back on the Havers course was four-woman Texas Scramble.

Only four teams went out, with Joshua, Val Nicholls, Linda Boland and Jan McLellan way out ahead with a nett score of 29.8 over ten holes.

On Wednesday the men vied for the over-70s and over-80s trophies.

John Sowton won the over-70s with a fine stableford score of 42 points.

Brian Little won the over-80s trophy with a respectable 36 points.

His recently-reduced handicap didn’t stand in his way.

Meanwhile, Alan Dunt hosted his Seniors' Captain’s Day on Monday.

It was another Indian summer day with hazy sunshine and almost no wind.

Peter Dabbs won with a really good score of 44 stableford points.

Chris Strelley was close behind with 42 and Ray Birkwood was awarded third place on countback with 41, just ahead of Roger Attrill.
