FRINTON Golf Week kicked off with a medal event - the last round of the Club Championship.

James Hide won the Centenary Medal for the best gross with a 72.

Robert Trotman also had a gross score of 72 and Kevin Smith was next best with 73.

The Phillip Robinson Medal for best nett score went to Chris Ackred, with 67 nett, on countback from Trotman.

Mark Doyle was in third place with 69 nett.

On Sunday, relatives gathered to play in the Family Foursomes, a competition for direct descendants and sponsored by Cabana.

The mother/son team of lady captain Marilyn Clarke and Luc Gagne were the winners on countback with 37 stableford points, just ahead of Donna and Keiran Oliver.

Justin and Ben Osborne took home third prize with 35 points.

Over on the Kirby Course, adults and juniors vied for the Grimwade Trophy.

Simon O’Brien and son Harvey took home the silverware with 22 points and it was presented by Stuart Grimwade.

Kevin and Callum Gregory were awarded second place on countback with 21 points, just ahead of Max and Louie Rouse.

Meanwhile, in the monthly stableford open to all Havers Course members, Caroline Grey beat all the men - and a few other women - to take first place on countback with 38 points.

The second and third-place winners also had 38 points and they were Jamie Redden and Kevin Smith.

It was a full field with 50 entrants.

On Ladies' Day, the women played a strokeplay event for three prizes - the Silvers, 20s and 30s (referring to handicap category).

Caroline Gard won the Silvers with 71 nett.

Joan Stevenson won the 20s category and Sheran Harding won the 30s.
