LADY captain Marilyn Clarke hosted Frinton Golf Club's Ladies' Guest Day.

It was a fun day with a four ball better ball on par fours and fives and both scores counting on the par threes.

With the ball rolling on the dry course, the scores were quite good.

Mary and Liz Strutt won on countback with 50 stableford points, ahead of Linda Hayle and Chris Bradford.

Yvonne Davies and her guest, Carol Wrayton, were in third place, again on countback with 48 points, pipping Caroline Gard and Sue Gilbert.

Meanwhile, over on the Kirby Course, Louise Wood was way out in front with an amazing 45 points.

Jean Spencer finished in second place with 36.

Maj Whitehead was third with 34.

The men vied for the Lorence Evelyn Jones Trophy - a singles medal competition with a maximum handicap of 24.

Roger Deeble took home the silverware, scoring a 65 nett.

Stephan Smith was second with a close 66 nett and Paul Mutton came third with 67.

All three promptly had their handicaps cut.

In a Youth Shield match, the juniors played at The Warren.

It was a great match with the decider going on to the 19th.

Frinton won 3/2.

Finally, there was a remarkable achievement during the Wednesday afternoon golfers gathering as George Greenwood shot his age – 86.
