CLACTON Golf Club are celebrating after Faye Trigg and Katy Yates came first and second in the Essex Ladies' Championship.

Trigg was crowned 2017 champion, having begun the first day with a gross score of 164, after 36 holes strokeplay.

She went on to successfully win her matches against Sophie Wheeler (Thorndon Park) and Paige Kemp (Boyce Hill) before playing and defeating clubmate Yates.

Meanwhile, Clacton held their Seve Ballesteros Trophy mixed competition on Sunday.

Sean Stuttaford won with an amazing 46 points.

Michael Ring was the runner-up with a brilliant 43 and Gary Lee was third with 41.

Clacton's ladies played in a medal competition and Heather Bradfield won with a great nett score of 74.

The runner-up, with a nett score of 76, was Hoon Locke and in third was Cath Fage, with 77.

The ladies also had another win, this time, 4-3, when playing The Essex at home on Monday.

The final match is at Playgolf on Friday, June 9.

Clacton's juniors played in their Basil Morgan Trophy match on Saturday.

This is a par bogey competition and Harvey Bell won with an even par of 0.

He was followed by Thomas Pirie (-1) and Katy Yates (-2).
