IT was another busy weekend at Clacton Golf Club with the men’s Veterans Cup taking place on Saturday.
Danny Thomas won with 38 points and the runner-up was Steve James, with 37.
In third, with 35, was Steve Smith.
On Sunday Clacton hosted the Hospital Cup.
This is a par bogey competition and, to cap a memorable weekend, Thomas won again with a +5 score.
The runner-up was Bradley Broughton, with +4, and Kevin Reid was third, with +3.
Elsewhere, Clacton's ladies played in the Levermore Rose Bowl.
This is a par bogey competition and Sandy Cocker won with a +1 result, followed closely in second by Julia Hewett (0).
In third place was Pat Messenger, with -2.
The ladies' fifth bronze match was away to Three Rivers and they lost 6-1.
Many of the team found it a very challenging course but the matches were played in excellent spirit. Their next match is on Monday, at home to The Essex.
Liam Leech won Clacton's juniors' stableford with a score of 47 points.
The runner-up was Thomas Pirie, with 45 points, and in third was Jacob Lazaro, with 39.
Clacton's seniors hosted a match against Forrester Park and a close contest ended in them losing 4½-3½.
