CLACTON Archers hosted their annual indoor open tournament at the Tendring Education Centre.

Archers attended from clubs across Essex and Suffolk, including some from Colchester and Braintree.

Fifty-nine competed, across sessions during the morning and afternoon, and all archers shot a Portsmouth Round, which consists of five dozen arrows at 20 yards.

Twenty-one Clacton members attended, including five from the junior league.

Jon Tate took the gold medal in the gents' recurve, with a score of 588, including 48 golds.

Scott Price, another Clacton Archer, took silver with a score of 572 and 36 golds.

Clacton's Bruce Parker won a silver medal in the gents' compound with a score of 573 and 33 golds.

Other gold Medals were won by Ross Trinder (Blue Arrows), Balint Olajos (Blue Arrows), Caitlin Rentell (Bowmen Warfield), Adrian Burch (Blue Arrows), Peter Schofield (Braintree Bowen) and Carl Elvin (Raydon Hall).

All five of Clacton's junior archers, including Mason Osbourne, Chantelle Frost, Jessica Robbins, Daisy Simpson and Jon Tate, all took either a gold or silver medal in the categories of under-14 or under-18.

The judges on the day were Richard Pilkington and Tracey Jackson.
