CLACTON Indoor Bowls Club's ladies were defeated in their national fours area final against Ipswich.

The game was played on neutral ground at Sudbury Indoor Bowls Club.

One of Ipswich's team members was Katherine Rednall - an English lawn and indoor bowler from Stowmarket.

Rednall became the youngest-ever winner of a World Indoor Bowls title after winning the 2014 World Indoor Bowls Championship women's singles at the age of just 18.

This year she won her second World Indoor Bowls ladies' singles matchplay title, at Potters Resort in Hopton.

Clacton started well, holding their own against a strong Ipswich team.

They played well but their efforts were in vain as Ipswich pulled ahead, making it impossible for Clacton to catch up and reluctantly they conceded on the 16th end with the Suffolk side winning 29-8.

Meanwhile, in the men's over-60 league, Clacton's A and B teams played Colchester.

Clacton's A team beat Colchester A 43-36.

Clacton's B team defeated Colchester B 48-34.

Clacton's men's C team played against the Jack's Centre C team and won 49-25.

In the Men's County League, Clacton's home team beat West Mersea 71-46.

The away team lost 67-47 but overall Clacton won 118-113.
