CLACTON darts ace Curtis Hammond won the inaugural Rose Bowl singles competition, in the Essex Men's Superleague.

The event took place at Chelmsford Social Club.

All games were the best of three legs 1001 and the competition was open to all registered Superleague players.

Hammond ran out victorious, following some terrific darts and games along the way.

In the opening round, he dispatched of Colchester's Dominic Ryan.

He then defeated Rayleigh Rascals' Michael Pinnington 2-1.

The in-form James Clarke, of Kelvedon, was the next opponent and he then faced another strong challenge from another Kelvedon player, Steve Laybourn.

However, Hammond dug deep to secure his place in the semi-finals, where he dispatched of Chelmsford's Essex county player Matt Garrett.

The final was a great game between Hammond and county man Paul Barham (Southend).

However, Hammond kept his cool and clinched the title with a 2-1 victory.

Hammond followed in the footsteps of his Clacton team-mate Adrian Genery, who won the competition in the 2004-05 season while playing for Harwich.
