CLACTON Golf Club's ladies' section held their AGM.

Captain Gilly Cullen presented a certificate and bouquet of flowers to Irene Bickers, to celebrate her 50 years as a member of the West Road club.

The ladies then moved outside to support 2017 lady captain Di Kedge's 147-yard "Drive into Office".

Prior to the AGM, the ladies played a nine-hole AGM Sweep and the winner was Angela Barratt, with 20 points.

In second was Sonja Strutt, with 19, and in third was Fay Trigg, with 17.

Fourth spot went to Fiona Cope, with 16, on countback from Heather Bradfield.

Meanwhile, Clacton's seniors' section played their fifth Top Dogs event and the winners were John Willson and Mike Gurry, with 40 points.

In second were Malcolm Taylor and Terry Musslewhite, with 39, on countback from third-placed Bill Thompson and Brian Walker.

Clacton's men also played their fifth Top Dogs competition.

The winners were club captain Nick Smith and Garry Lee, returning 44 points.

In second were Bob Davidson and Ronnie Miller, with 43, on countback from third-placed Edward Foster and Bob Foster.

Clacton's junior section were also in Top Dogs action and the winner was Wilf Elliott, with 40 points, on countback from Harvey Bell.

In third place was Henry Goodwin, with 35.

Two of the Clacton club's top juniors have departed the UK for sunny Spain, to compete in the 2016 Junior European Open finals.

Katy Yates and Josh Bethell will compete in the 54-hole finals against junior golfers from all over Europe.
