NEWLY-FORMED St Osyth Boxing Club members have been fighting on various shows.

First up was Shane Cahill, in his first-ever bout, and he was matched against an unbeaten boxer from home club Rayne.

It was always going to be a tough test for the debutant.

Cahill started very lively in the first round, executing some fantastic shots and showing his speed and power.

Many thought he was going to stop the local lad.

However, the experience and determination of the home boxer came into play and the second and third rounds were a much tighter affair.

When the final bell rang and the score cards were in, a split decision was given in favour of the Rayne boxer.

Next up for the Toosey boys were Jake Godderidge and Jordan Gosling, at the Chelmsford BC dinner show at Boreham House.

Both were having their second skills bouts for the club.

Godderidge was first up against a Chelmsford boy.

After a slow start for the St Osyth boxer, it didn't take long for all the coaching techniques to come into play.

Showing fantastic footwork and utilising the jabs, the southpaw did a great job.

As a skills bout has no decision at the end, both boys' hands were held aloft, doing their clubs proud.

The seventh bout of the night saw Gosling take to the ring.

Fighting the same boy as in his debut, his confidence was high.

His strength and movement around the ring was a fantastic skills display, which is what these bouts are designed for.

The three one-minute rounds were soon over and both boys' hands were raised again.

Next up at the double jab show at Millwall football ground was Reece Cronin, in his first-ever bout.

In the first round, the local boy started strongly, throwing good shots which Cronin took a short time to come to terms with.

In the second round, Cronin was the much better boxer with good combinations of his long jabs and great right-hand shots.

In the third, both boys worked well and it could have either way.

With Cronin being the stronger and fitter boy, St Osyth thought they were on course for a victory but it was not to be and the split decision went in favour of the Chelmsford lad.

Gosling fought his third skills bout and his second in two days.

He and his opponent fought very well and the St Osyth boy showed great skills, fitness and strength.

Both head coach Billy Taylor and junior coach Mark Siggers agreed this was his best boxing display so far.
