BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent have completed the signing of Robbie Rees, from VCD Athletic.

The left-footed attacking player has been brought in to bolster the squad in their push for promotion.

Regent are currently second in Ryman League division north and unbeaten in 11 matches, having not tasted defeat since way back on October 1.

“I’m delighted to have secured the signing of Robbie,” said Regent boss James Webster.

“He’s a player I’ve admired for a long time.

“He has a fantastic work ethic. He’s direct, pacey and has an excellent left foot, which will add balance and depth to our young squad.

“I’m looking forward to working with him and would like to welcome him to the Regent family.”

Rees, who has made over 150 appearances in the Ryman League, spent seven seasons at Brentwood Town.

He scored in their play-final victory over Thurrock two years ago but left during pre-season to join VCD Athletic.

Regent switch their attention back to the FA Trophy tonight, for their rescheduled second qualifying round tie against Harlow Town.

The contest had to be abandoned on Saturday because of a floodlight failure at North Road.

The winners now know they will face a third-qualifying round trip to Ryman League premier division side Havant and Waterlooville on Saturday, November 26.

The draw was made yesterday. Brightlingsea’s next league game is at Thurrock on Saturday.
