FRINTON Cricket Club had their match at Cambridge Granta abandoned.

This was much to the annoyance of their large travelling support.

Frinton were on 174 for eight in the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League contest after a good 37 from Mike Griggs and with skipper Kyran Young looking well set on 58 not out.

The wicket was difficult and the game in the balance.

However, unfortunately, the rain gods decided to end it there.

Frinton's second team lost at home to Witham, in division one of the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship.

After winning the toss, they lost early wickets.

Dom Stockdale added some respectability to the score with 60 - his average is above 100 in his last four games - and they finished on 140 all out.

Witham's Jake Wakelin took the attack to Frinton with a quickfire 82 and the visitors cruised home with seven wickets in hand.

Both the first and second teams have maintained their places in the Premier League and Two Counties Championship division one respectively.
