ANGELA Vaughan hosted her Lady Captain’s Day at Frinton Golf Club.

It took place in bright sunshine, with just a light breeze for most of the day, and the scores reflected the great conditions.

The morning was a single stableford and Lily Taylor won it with an amazing score of 44 points.

Caroline Gard was second, with 40, and vice-captain Marilyn Clarke came in third, with 35.

As a result of Taylor’s exceptional play, her handicap was reduced five points to 21.

She must hold the record of handicap reduction, down from 32 to 21 this season.

The Kirby course ladies also played a single stableford and the winner was Bernadette West, with 33 points.

Vivian Stansfield was second, with 32.

In the afternoon, the format was a four-woman Texas Scramble.

The winning team, amassing a score of 30.7 nett, was made up of Marilyn Clarke, Claire Vaughan, Joanne Simons and Caroline Gard.

Second place went to Val Nicholls, Joan Withycombe, Jane Quick and Mary Johnson, with 32.3 nett.

The best pair from Frinton was Gary Chisnall and Chris Hemingway, who came out on top with 46 points.

Frinton lost the match overall by a mere six points but everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

However, Frinton’s Malcolm King managed to win the prestigious ‘chipping out the window’ competition.

The club's junior weekend was a great success.

On Friday, it was the junior captain’s team v the lady captain’s and the juniors won 3/2.

The Kirby course competition was won by Simon and Harvey O’Brian.

On Saturday it was the Foundation Foursomes.

Stephen Vaughan and Peter Webster won, with Lee Thompson and Rob Trotman second.
