CLACTON'S annual beach volleyball tournament was graced with glorious sunshine.

Fifty-four competitors took part in the sixth annual event, hoping to be kings and queens of the sandy courts.

Teams came from throughout East Anglia, including Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and, this year, Cambridge.

The tournament took place in perfect weather, with very little wind and sweltering 24C heat.

In the morning the teams battled it out in pool matches.

The afternoon then saw play-off matches take place, followed by the finals.

Three of the four divisional winners were from Essex.

The Men's Cup winners were Heatec Team Gios and the Men's Trophy conquerors were Sets on the Beach.

The Mixed Cup winners were Brexit and the Mixed Trophy honours went to No Idea.

Next year's tournament will return to its normal date on the second Saturday in July (July 8).
