ST Osyth were narrowly defeated by Kelvedon and Feering seconds by the margin of one wicket in Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division six.

Batting first, St Osyth got a solid start with James Handscombe and Jason Lloyd enjoying an opening partnership of 98 in 30 overs.

Handscombe made 59 and Lloyd 48, but both were out to the slow bowling of George Curtis, who then went on to collect three further wickets as the St Osyth innings subsided to 144 for eight.

Kelvedon responded confidently with Mick Warner and Ollie Wilton-Steer adding 67 in 19 overs.

The wicket of Warner for 48 heralded a St Osyth comeback and the visitors were reduced to 108 for eight.

It took an experienced knock from Alex Parsons to eventually turn the match for Kelvedon and his unbeaten 45 got them home with one wicket left.

A fine bowling spell from James Bean saw him return five for 38.
