A 14-STRONG contingent of Clacton, Walton and Harwich Judoka travelled to Thetford for the East Anglian Fours competition.

The competition is a good development event that bridges the gap between club judo and ranking competitions.

In their first competition, Anya Nibre, Gemma Lewis and Fraser and Maddie Willing displayed good skills in their groups and all took well-deserved bronze medals.

Brothers Nathan and Daniel Elmer marked a four-year absence from competition with some fine wins and bronze medals of their own.

Freddy and Henry Spooner, Jake and Daragh Bucke, Kacper Leswiewski and Evelyn Silvester joined their club-mates in the medals, adding to the ever- increasing bronze medal tally.

It was up to twins Perry and Alana Taylor Weeden to get higher up on the rostrum.

With a strong performance from Alana earning the silver, it was up to Perry to see if he could go one better.

In a tough group, Perry was dominant in all his contests, finishing his final contest with a huge Ura Nage (rear throw) for maximum points and the elusive gold.
