CLACTON Rugby Club brought the curtain down on the season by holding an awards evening at their Valley Road clubhouse.
Despite their lack of success on the field, there was a good turn-out of players and friends to see vice-chairman Alan Lee present the trophies and the first-team players' player award went to Elliott Shuttleworth.
Shuttleworth was also named as the club's best young player.
Jon Vine was the best back and Ben Buxey the best forward, with the top try-scorer being Aaron Redpath.
The Kestrels' award winners were Sam Mockford (players' player), Alex Wilkins (best back), Jem Lonsdale (best forward) and Keenan Wood (top try-scorer).
The coveted Clubman of the Year went to the hard-working Pete Doolin.
There were special awards made to bar manager Janet White, club physio Tasha Allsop and minbus driver Phil Lee, for their help and assistance over the season.
The evening brought down the curtain on the playing season, but there are still events planned through the summer.
Thanks in no small part to the work of Adrian Nation, the club will be holding their third music festival on Sunday, May 29.
Then on Saturday, July 2 the annual beach rugby event will be taking place on the Martello Beach.
