THE Tendring District Summer League kicked off its tenth anniversary season by holding the Tendring Knockout Cup.

It was a huge success, with 17 teams and over 85 players competing at Clacton Railway Club.

East Gates were the 2016 winners as they defeated Blacksmiths 4-2.

In the semi-finals they defeated The Trafalgar 4-3 on the last game while Blacksmiths also won 4-3, following a last-game decider against White Wanderers.

Results: Winners: East Gates (Alan Currivan, Adrian Genery, James Wilson, Keith Farthing and Stuart Hunt).

Runners-Up: Blacksmiths (Andy Bacon, Liam Fairclough, Peter Baldwin, Richard Jones and Robert Jelley).

Losing Semi-Finalists: White Wanderers (Paul Foley, Craig Topolewski, Kevin Edwards, George Lord and Tony Berritt); The Trafalgar (Paul Kempen, Dave Kempen, Sarah Self, Steve Hockley and Shan Fox).

B Division: Thorpe Social (Thorpe) v The Club (Clacton), The Globe A (Harwich) v Exiles (Clacton), United Services Rumblers (Harwich) v Railway Club (Clacton).

C Division: Charlie's Angels (Walton) v Eldorado (Jaywick), King's Queen's (Dovercourt) v The Globe B (Harwich), Loose End's (Clacton) v Wizards (Clacton).
