CLACTON Golf Club enjoyed a resounding victory against Maldon in the home leg of their annual Pisa Cup match.

The team of captain Nick Smith, Gary Lee, Paul Pidgeon, Simon Smith, Richard Hart, Danny Thomas, Fred Allerton, Cliff Cullen, Simon Bates, Lee Hale, Steve Scott, Jiwan Rai, Adam Stringer, Mark Grover, Bob Davidson, Ronnie Miller, Pete Smith and Scott Smith proved that home advantage really is a benefit by winning 8-1.

However, Maldon captain Terry Butcher said he is looking forward to the return match later in the year.

Meanwhile, Clacton's seniors' section played the 19th Catering Anniversary Cup.

The winner was Richard Weeks, returning a very good stableford score of 39 points.

In second place was Robin Routh, with 37 points, and in third was past captain Robert Gillespie, with 35.

Clacton's men played the April Medal.

In division one, for handicaps of 12 and below, the winner was David Reid, returning 82-11-71.

In second place was Lee Hale, with 85-12-73, and in third was Nick Tedder-Ward, with 77-4-73.

In division two, for handicaps of 13 and above, the winner was Philip Tipple, with 83-13-70, on countback from second-placed Perry Bettis, with 96-26-70.

In third place was Ian Johnston, with 87-14-73.

Clacton's juniors played for the June Rodwell Trophy and the 2016 winner was Katy Yates, with 37 points.

In second place was James Wright, with 35, and in third was junior captain Riley Faulkner, with 31.
