CLACTON Golf Club’s men played for the 2016 Rabbits Cup.

This prestigious competition, which was first played for in 1935, is open to all male members with a CONGU Handicap of 20 and above.

The 2016 winner was Darren Tully, with 37 points.

In second was Tony Toye, with 35, and in third was Scott Smith, with 34, on countback from fourth-placed Tom Redfern.

Clacton’s junior section played for the James Petts Trophy and the 2016 winner was Henry Goodwin, with 47 points.

In second was Wilf Elliott, with 37, and in third was Ben Randell, with 35.

Meanwhile, Riley Faulkner has been appointed as the 2016 junior captain at Clacton.

The 17-year-old attends Clacton County High School and plays with a handicap of six.

Clacton’s ladies played their Medal One and Lillian Baker Trophy on Tuesday morning.

The winner, returning a good score of 92-20-72, was Brenda Lord.

In second was Chris Crossfield, with 98-21-77, on countback from third-place Jennie Corbyn, with 98-21-77.

Clacton’s men played for the Ward Salver, on Sunday morning.

This competition is foursomes, which is one ball and two players taking alternate shots.

The 2016 winners were Paul Pidgeon and Gary Lee, with a nett 70.

In second place were Andy Hobbs and R Fowler, with 70.5, and in third were Paul Bettis and M James, with 71.5.
