WEELEY Athletic enjoyed a thrilling Essex Premier Cup success at home to AFC Hornchurch’s under-21s, on Saturday.
The Vista Road side won the fourth-round tie 4-3, thanks to a brace from Russ McLean and one apiece from Tom Heffer and Ross Nash.
Weeley now switch their attention to a top-of-the-table league game at Wormingford Wanderers, on Saturday.
Wormingford are top of Essex and Suffolk Border League division one and Weeley third, with ten wins from their 12 games.
They have won their last five.
The wet weather scuppered Holland FC and led to the postponement of their Essex Premier Cup fourth-round tie at Harold Wood Athletic.
The sides will now try again this Saturday.
