GILL Locke was the star as Nomads Panthers marched on at the top of Clacton and District Table Tennis League division one with an emphatic 8-2 win over Brotherhood C.

Locke’s hat-trick included a 12-10, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9 victory over Alan Burgess and a shock 11-9, 13-11, 11-6 win against Kevin Gowlett – three times a Clacton men’s singles champion and previously unbeaten this season.

James Denyer and John Poysden each won two for the Panthers while Burgess failed to register a point in a league match for the first time in five years.

Walton C drew with Windsor Hawks, with Walton’s Gary Young remaining unbeaten.

Paul Meikle won one and, with Young, edged the doubles 12-10 in the fifth against Andy Vincent and Felipe Rodriguez.

Vincent and Rodriguez won two singles apiece for the Hawks.

It was also all-square between Windsor Condors and Walton B.

Greg Green’s treble for Windsor included wins in five against Gavin Price and Paul Woolnough.

Price and John Rankin both took two for Walton. Windsor Eagles defeated bottom side Brotherhood D 8-2.

Paul Alden played well for Brotherhood.

His two wins including a fine 11-8 in the fifth success against Phil Smith.

It was also 8-2 for Nomads Lions against Brotherhood B, with Brian Parish inflicting impressive defeats on Martin Edwards and John Owen.

In division two, Lawford beat Nomads Bobcats 10-0 and Windsor Owls defeated Brotherhood E 8-2 – results which put the two teams level at the top on 90 points.

Lawford have played a game more, though.

Brotherhood H were 9-1 winners against Windsor Buzzards.

Graham Parkes and Grant Sharpe both stayed unbeaten while James Smith-Daye contributed two good points.

It was also 9-1 for Brotherhood I against Windsor Magpies, with Mark Beckham and Maurice Hardy taking three each.

Windsor’s Dave Sweetland had a surprise 11-7 in the decider win over the in-form Tom Wilkin.

The Brotherhood F v Windsor Harriers clash ended all-square, with Sandie Isaac taking three and Lee Allen two for Brotherhood.

Ferdy Rodriguez won a couple for the Harriers but lost 14-12 in the fifth to Isaac.

In division three, leaders Nomads Pumas defeated Windsor Kites 9-1.

Carl Hubbard took the Kites’ point with an 11-8 in the decider win against John Bowers.

Alan Dockerill, back in action for his first match of the season for the Pumas, stayed unbeaten.

Three each from Woody Fitzpatrick and Debra Found, and one from Millie Easton, saw Windsor Ospreys to a 7-3 win against Brotherhood G.

Windsor Swallows lost 7-3 to Walton D but the evergreen Iris Howlett, returning to league action for the Swallows after a four-month lay-off through injury, picked up two encouraging wins.
