CLACTON Golf Club member Bob Moss hosted the Jason Moss Trophy.

It was in memory of his son, Jason, who passed away at the age of 21.

Jason was a fine catagory one golfer at the club.

Hosts Clacton were the winners and their team consisted of Katy Yates, Henry Goodwin, Wilf Elliott, Max Smith, Bob Moss and Riley Faulkner.

Home advantage was clearly a factor as they prevailed by four points.

Other teams of junior golfers came from: Millers Barn (G Pilgrim, S Bruce, C Forecast, E Simper and J Lazaro), Frinton (L Thompson, J Wells, R Forecast, J Partridge and J Sach), Colchester (C James, L Story, D Nicholls, H Hills, O Allison and J Jackson), Colne Valley (T Mead, M Butler, D Wallace, M Kill and W Gee) and Five Lakes (Y Hobbs, T Arrowsmith, T Vass, L Cookson, B Clark and R Ward).

Meanwhile, Clacton’s seniors played their November stableford on a very foggy Monday morning.

Eighty competitors started in dence fog, hoping to find the fairway.

Past captain Robert Gillespie returned a winning score of 46 stableford points, from his 16 handicap.

In second, on countback, was Brian Walker, playing equally good golf as the winner, returning 46 points from his 16 handicap.

Third place went to Keith Pullen, with 42 points. Clacton’s junior section played their second winter Top Dog event on Saturday morning.

Returning a winning score of 40 stableford points was Max Smith.

In second was Wilf Elliott, with 36, and in third was Katy Yates, with 32.

Clacton’s men played their third Top Dogs competition on Sunday morning and the winning pair were Peter Hart and Simon Thomas, with a bogey score of plus 13.

In second were Martin Suen and Tony Stevens, with plus ten, on countback from third-placed Peter Hewett and Alfie J Smith, also with plus ten.

Clacton’s ladies played their November Medal on Tuesday morning.

The winner was vice-captain Gilly Cullen, returning 96-25-72.

In second was Angela Barrett, with 103-26-77, and in third was Sandy Cocker, with 109-31-78.

Clacton’s ladies also played the November stableford.

The winner was Lin Euston, with 29 stableford points, and in second was Verity Coulthard, with 27.

Mary Cole was third, on countback, also with 27 points.
