PAT Boldock did Walton Indoor Bowls Club proud when she faced one of the best in the business in the Champion of Champions competition at the Columbine Centre.
She took on Ipswich powerhouse Katherine Rednall, who achieved national fame by being crowned world champion in 2014 and finishing runner-up this year.
She pushed the 19-year-old all the way before going down by 21 shots to 14.
Poldock was a bundle of nerves and feared the worst before facing such a formidable opponent, but responded superbly.
“It was obviously a daunting prospect against a girl who has achieved so much at a young age,” she said.
“But I’m happy with the way it went.
“I gave it my best shot and I’m satisfied I made a match of it.”
Also on Sunday, Walton faced Holland-on-Sea, who came across the marshes for their annual visit.
Holland are an outdoor club, who don’t expect to win when they leave their familiar surroundings, and it was no different this time.
Walton won by a big margin, but enjoyed the afternoon against opponents who are always welcome visitors.
