HOLLAND Shore Boxing Club’s Arnie Dawson began the season with a fine points win.

He was up against Vange and Pitsea’s Alby Hill, at the Prince Regent Hotel, in Barkingside.

Hill began well, trying to keep the St Osyth-based boxer backed to the ropes, but was met with classy counter-punches as he walked forward.

Dawson used good foot movement to edge a tight first round.

The second was again a tough round for both boys, as they traded punches and went toe-to-toe.

However, Dawson was connecting with well-placed combination punches as Hill walked forward.

Knowing both rounds had been close, Dawson took the fight to his rugged opponent in the third, outpunching him with heavy three and four-punch combinations to run out a unanimous points winner.

Dawson now has five wins from his last six contests.
