Maldon and Tiptree grabbed a share of the spoils with a late goal.

They secured a Ryman League division north 2-2 draw at Barkingside on Saturday.

Both sides had chances to go in front in the early stages of the game but it was the home side that took the lead on 24 minutes.

Brentwood’s Michael Spencer gained possession of the ball just outside the penalty area, cut inside and fired a low shot into the net.

After the break, Maldon went close to grabbing an equaliser when Darren Mill’s close range header pulled out a good save from keeper Darren Bechet.

But it was Barkingside that looked as if they had sealed the win on 79 minutes when they doubled their advantage.

From a throw in, Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe took the ball forward and his low shoot found the back of the net.

The home side almost added a third when Tyrone Scarlett’s cross found Jonathan Nzengo but his header went straight into the arms of Maldon keeper Danny Sambridge.

Maldon managed to pull a goal back two minutes into injury time when Femi Akinwande fired a low shot home.

And the visitors then managed to grab a point two minutes later.

A bad clearance from Bechet found Mills and he fired in a shot from 30 metres to secure a draw.

Heybridge Swifts fell to a late 1-0 defeat against visiting Cray Wanderers.

After two wins in a row for new manager Jody Brown he suffered his first loss.

Ben Payne secured the only goal of the match in the 86th minute to give Wanderers the win.

Brightlingsea Regent secured an excellent 3-0 win against visiting Soham Town Rangers.

The home side took the lead in the 12th minute.

A long pass from Matt Cripps found Phil Kelly who crossed into the box.

Josh Mayhew collected the ball and fired home to put Regent 1-0 up.

Regent doubled their advantage on 26 minutes.

A great kick from keeper Daniel Beeson found Kelly and he flicked the ball on to Luke Read in the six yard box and he smashed home for 2-0.

And Keiron Baker sealed the win on 35 minutes with a turning volley from a corner.

Witham Town won on the road with a 1-0 victory at Waltham Abbey.

George Cocklin scored the all-important goal on 75 minutes.
